Support for Ukraine does not depend on US position - Belgian Prime Minister.

Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo stated that the European Union will engage in dialogue with the US on security issues, but support for Ukraine is already outlined in the plans of EU countries and does not depend on possible changes in Donald Trump's position.
He made this statement during a speech at the European Political Community summit in Budapest.
"The notion that support for Ukraine will cease or halt with changes in US positions does not reflect reality. I hope we can have an open conversation with the US about their future actions. But this does not mean that we should change our priorities," the Belgian prime minister said.
According to him, half of the support for Ukraine comes from EU countries, and its continuation is already recorded in the EU plans.
"We have been doing this for several years. In the plans of each country, it is clearly stated that we will continue, and we must be very clear about this. European security is not something we outsource," stressed the Belgian prime minister.
In his opinion, the United States and Europe should work together, but the EU is ready to uphold its goals in dialogue with the Americans.
"We have a work plan that we want to discuss in the next few months, before President Trump takes office. I hope there will be an open dialogue. But if there isn't, Europe will protect its own interests," noted De Croo.
