Millions in damages caused - suspicions announced for officials of the Kyiv City State Administration.

The Kyiv prosecutor's office, together with the State Bureau of Investigation, police, and the Security Service of Ukraine, uncovered a large-scale abuse scheme in municipal enterprises and structural divisions of the Kyiv City State Administration, which led to damages to the Kyiv budget amounting to at least 196.4 million hryvnias.

This was reported by the Office of the Attorney General.

As part of the investigation, law enforcement officials announced suspicions against 11 officials, while several other individuals may be held accountable in the near future.

Suspicions were announced under articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine related to official negligence, abuse of power, and embezzlement. Among the suspects are high-ranking officials of the city administration.

• The former deputy mayor of Kyiv and secretary of the city council - unjustified salary payments to an employee of the council's apparatus.
• The director of the Department of Transport Infrastructure of the Kyiv City State Administration - responsible for damages of 164 million hryvnias due to the suspension of metro service between the stations 'Demiivska' and 'Lybidska'.
• The head of the state enterprise 'Forests of Ukraine' - suspected of ineffective use of funds when purchasing tractors.
• The head of the Municipal Enterprise 'Kyiv Tele-service' - organized the purchase of internet equipment at inflated prices.
• The deputy general director of the Municipal Enterprise 'Informatics' - involved in the case regarding the acquisition of equipment with losses exceeding 2.1 million hryvnias.
• The head of the management of the Department of Communal Property of the Kyiv City State Administration - organized the privatization of communal real estate at undervalued prices.
• The chief engineer of the 'Kyiv Fortress' museum - received a suspicion due to payment for design works that were not performed properly.

Four individuals were detained directly during the pre-trial investigation, among them the chief agronomist, the acting head of the architecture and land use department, a division head, and a former head of the communal organization.

Law enforcement authorities prepared a request to the court for the removal of all suspects from office during the investigation, emphasizing that this is only the beginning of a wide-ranging investigation.

The overall picture of the investigation revealed serious violations in municipal enterprises and structures of the Kyiv City State Administration, leading to significant financial losses for the city budget. Law enforcement agencies continue to act to hold all guilty parties accountable and to prevent similar schemes in the future.
