Passenger trains from Uzhhorod will be able to run on the European gauge to Bratislava, Prague, Vienna, Dresden, and Bucharest from 2025
Deputy Minister of Finance of Ukraine Oleksandr Kava announced that from 2025, passenger trains from Uzhhorod will be able to run on the European standard gauge to Bratislava, Prague, Vienna, Dresden, and Bucharest. He stated this during the International Conference "Manufacture, operation, and repair of rolling stock".
Overall, the intention is to complete the laying of the European gauge on the Chop-Uzhhorod section already at the beginning of the III quarter of 2025.
Active work is currently underway on the Chop-Uzhhorod section, - said Oleksandr Kava. - I hope that already next year, passenger trains from Uzhhorod will be able to run on the European gauge to Bratislava, Prague, Vienna, Dresden, and Bucharest. There are all the possibilities for this. Passengers will undergo control at the Uzhhorod station.
