Over 167 thousand war crimes by Russians registered in Ukraine - Lubinets.

The Commissioner for Human Rights reported the number of war crimes committed by the Russian occupiers
Dmytro Lubinets reported that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, over 167 thousand war crimes committed by Russian occupiers have been recorded. More than 45 thousand civilians have been affected, including 625 children killed. The youngest victim was only two days old, having died during a shelling of a maternity hospital in Zaporizhzhia.
'Russia kidnaps Ukrainian children, changes their names, hands them over for adoption, prepares them for war against their own homeland. These are not just crimes. This is a challenge to everything we called law,' emphasized Lubinets.
The Ombudsman emphasized that Russia bears responsibility for violating international humanitarian law and using missiles and drones in the war. He also expressed outrage that violations of rights go unpunished and therefore recur, while the international community reacts to evil only with diplomacy and outrage.
According to Lubinets, if international law does not punish violators, we will all remain defenseless, as impunity only encourages new conflicts.
Analysis
The statistics presented by the Commissioner for Human Rights indicate that the conflict in eastern Ukraine has extremely severe consequences for the civilian population. Community and international organizations need to take action to hold the responsible parties accountable for the crimes committed during the war. Against the backdrop of the impunity of Russian occupiers and violators of international law, it is important to change the approach to monitoring the observance of human rights and preventing similar conflicts in the future.
