The European Union allocates 1.9 billion euros for military support to Ukraine

The European Union has announced that it will provide nearly 1.9 billion euros for military needs in Ukraine. These funds will be sourced from the profits generated from frozen Russian assets through the European Peace Facility.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal noted this step, calling it historic. 'This is a historic decision, as weapons for Ukraine will be purchased using profits from frozen Russian assets through the European Peace Facility,' he stated.

According to plans, 1 billion euros will be spent on purchasing weapons directly from Ukrainian manufacturers based on the 'Danish model.' This will strengthen the country's defense capabilities and support the Ukrainian defense industry, emphasized Shmyhal.

The remaining funds will be allocated to artillery and ammunition (over 600 million euros) and to strengthen Ukraine's air defense (over 200 million euros).

Shmyhal expressed gratitude to the European Union for its assistance and noted the contributions of Denmark, France, the Netherlands, and Italy in implementing the procurement of Ukrainian weapons totaling 1 billion euros. It should also be noted that on May 9, the EU's High Representative, Kaja Kallas, along with the foreign ministers of EU countries and other diplomatic officials visited Lviv.

This news is very promising for Ukraine, as it reflects the support and assistance of the European Union in strengthening the country's defense capabilities and supporting its defense industry. Receiving such a significant amount of funds will improve the efficiency of military operations and enhance security levels in Ukraine.
