Halushchenko reported how many massive attacks on energy infrastructure Russia has carried out in three years.

In the last three years, Russia has conducted many attacks on the energy infrastructure, leading to significant losses. German Halushchenko, the Minister of Energy of Ukraine, stated that Russia uses energy as a weapon, trying to deprive Ukraine of light and heat. Each attack involves simultaneous strikes on many facilities.
Furthermore, Russia targets energy facilities and creates a threat of nuclear catastrophe. It attacks critically important facilities near nuclear power plants. Currently, Russia controls a significant portion of electricity production in Ukraine, including the largest nuclear power plant in Europe - the Zaporizhia NPP.
Halushchenko also noted that before the invasion, Ukraine disconnected from the energy systems of Russia and Belarus, and the Ukrainian energy system operated autonomously for 21 days. In early March 2022, it joined the European ENTSO-E.
It should also be noted that gas production in Ukraine has decreased by 40% due to Russian missile strikes. To compensate for these losses, the country plans to import gas from Europe.
Since the beginning of the invasion in 2022, Russia has continuously attacked the Ukrainian energy sector. Recently, the attacks have targeted gas production facilities belonging to the state company 'Naftogaz' and the private company DTEK.
As a reminder, on the night of February 20, Russia again carried out a massive shelling of gas infrastructure, resulting in damage to production facilities. Restoration work has begun after the security situation has improved.
