Queues for Driving Licenses: Why Ukrainians Have to Wait for Months for the Practical Exam.

There are not enough examiners and slots for the practical exam in MIA service centers
The head of the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Mykola Rudyk, reported a problem with the shortage of examiners and slots for the practical exam. This issue affects the central and western regions of Ukraine, where people are relocating from unsafe areas. Meanwhile, the number of people wishing to take the exam in Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions has significantly decreased.
The problem is also exacerbated by the lack of personnel, which leads to increased waiting times for the exam. One examiner can conduct between 10 to 15 practical exams a day, but this number may decrease due to air raid alerts, which halt work.
According to Rudyk, vacancies for examiners and administrators are already open in most regions, but the process of their selection and training takes a long Time. Candidates must have a driver's license with all categories, practical driving experience, and be well-versed in the examination procedures. Ten candidates have already been selected and are undergoing training and internships. After the successful completion of this stage, they will be appointed to the respective positions, which will allow the increase of slots for the practical exam.
