Russia will not be able to seize Donetsk this year — Budanov's statement

The head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, believes that by the end of this year, the Russians will not succeed in capturing the entire territory of the Donetsk region. He emphasized that such a goal is unrealistic for them, as he stated in an interview with Bloomberg.

Main objectives of the Russian troops

According to Budanov, the enemy is trying to deploy its troops into the territory of the Dnipropetrovsk region and create another buffer zone up to ten kilometers deep.

Cooperation with international partners

The head of the GUR hopes for further information exchange with Western colleagues, especially cooperation with the USA in the field of operational warnings about missile attacks and receiving satellite images. He also urged allies to use human intelligence, as technical intelligence cannot always solve all issues.

“I see no signs that our security cooperation will stop. It is disadvantageous for us and our partners, as they receive important information from us,” Budanov noted.

According to ISW, Russia plans to encircle Pokrovsk and bypass the fortified defense line in the Donetsk region in the upcoming months. It is also worth noting that on July 10, Russian troops conducted an air strike on Kostiantynivka, resulting in the deaths of three people, with another person injured.

According to the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Russians may not manage to capture the entire territory of the Donetsk region by the end of the year. He also discussed the priority objectives of the Russian troops and hopes for further cooperation with international partners.
