Ukraine has installed less capacity of wind power plants this year
This year, Ukraine has installed approximately 44.6 MW of wind power plants, which is significantly less compared to last year when 238 MW of new wind power capacity was installed. This was reported by the chairman of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association, Andriy Konechenkov.
'I would call this year a failure. Compared to last year when 238 MW of capacity was installed, this year we installed two wind turbines of 5.5 MW and two turbines of 4.8 MW,' noted Konechenkov.
Additionally, Ukrainian wind energy companies are using refurbished turbines. This has led to the installation of 13 turbines with a total capacity of about 24 MW.
According to Konechenkov, the development of wind energy in Ukraine is hampered by problems in the electricity market, the government's failure to fulfill its obligations to renewable energy producers, and the ineffectiveness of the market premium mechanism.
