In Ukraine, the Gender Equality Index based on EU standards was presented for the first time.

The results of the first Gender Equality Index, which measures the state of equality between women and men in various areas of life, were presented in Kyiv. This was reported by the Ministry of Social Policy.
The index covers six key areas: work, money, knowledge, Time, influence, and health. Ukraine ranks 20th among 27 EU countries + Ukraine, with the highest indicators in the areas of 'Health', 'Money', and 'Time', which are close to the average European levels.
Progress in implementing the Istanbul Convention, which combats gender-based violence, is also noted. Ratification of this convention by Ukraine was an important step in protecting victims and expanding the fight against violence.
Calculating the gender index for Ukraine took 1.5 years. The next step is to strengthen the capacity of state institutions in using European methodology for data collection and analysis, as well as institutionalizing the Ukrainian Index and its regular calculation.
'Thanks to joint efforts, Ukraine became the first country to be a candidate for EU membership while continuing the fight for independence in a full-scale war. We also became the first state to develop a Gender Equality Index in wartime conditions. This is an important step toward strategic planning of reforms in the field of equality for women and men and creating an inclusive approach to rebuilding the country,' the Ministry of Social Policy said.
