The oldest person in the world died in Spain.

At the age of 117, the oldest person in the world, Maria Branyas, passed away. She spent the last two decades of her long life in a nursing home in northeastern Spain. This was reported by El Pais.
The family reported that Branyas Morera died just as she wished - peacefully in her sleep, without pain.
In the last months, the woman felt increasingly weak. A few days before her death, she told her family that she felt that "her long journey would soon end." The family associates her with joy and the desire to constantly enjoy life.
On the eve of her death, feeling the end approaching, Maria addressed her family with the words:
The Time is approaching. Do not cry for me, I do not like tears, and do not suffer. Wherever I go, I will be happy.
Catalan Maria Branyas received the title of the oldest person in the world in January 2023, after the death of Frenchwoman Lucile Randon, who was 118 years old.
Now the oldest person in the world is considered to be 116-year-old Japanese Tomiko Itooka.
Maria was born on March 4, 1907, in the American city of San Francisco. In May 2020, Maria contracted the coronavirus but soon recovered. She had three children, 11 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Her family said that she lived a long life thanks to her "slow pace" - she did not suffer from any serious ailments, had a clear mind, and ate healthily.
Recall that at the age of 88, the French legendary actor Alain Delon passed away.
