Ukrainian Shalomaev won silver in the world tour stage of table hockey.


Ukrainian Mykhailo Shalomaev became the silver medalist at the world tour stage of table hockey in Switzerland, reports Base of Ukrainian Sports.
In the final, he lost to the representative of Latvia with a score of 4:2.
In the semi-finals, Shalomaev defeated Czech Martin Madera, who is ranked 20th in the world ranking.
Hlib Storozhenko, another Ukrainian player, lost to Madera in the bronze match, finishing fourth.
The Ukrainian boxing team also showed strong results at the 2024 European Youth Championship in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Ukraine took first place in the tournament's medal standings, where 25 Ukrainian athletes participated.
In total, they won 14 medals, including 8 golds.
Yuriy Zakharieiev also performed at these competitions, becoming the first boxer in history to become a world champion at both adult and youth levels in one year.
Additionally, during the Ukrainian Athletics Championship, held in Ivano-Frankivsk, a local athlete set a Ukrainian women's record by covering a distance of 35 km in 2 hours 48 minutes and 4 seconds.
The 23-year-old Olympic champion Yaroslava Mahuchikh stated that she intends to participate in several more Olympic Games.
Our athlete in the final lost to the representative of Latvia (4:2) and won the silver medal.
In the semi-finals, Shalomaev overcame a serious opponent – the 20th world ranking player Czech Martin Madera.
It is worth noting that in the bronze match Madera won with a score of 3:0 against another Ukrainian, Hlib Storozhenko, who ultimately finished fourth.
