Ukrainians were told how much money can be transferred to a card without paying taxes.

Ukrainian citizens have been informed about the amount of card transfers that will be exempt from taxation in 2025.
According to Ukrainian tax legislation, all funds received on citizens' bank cards are subject to taxation. However, there are exceptions such as salaries, scholarships, and government payments.
Money transfers from friends, brothers, sisters, and others that are considered income must be reported in the annual tax declaration, and taxes must be paid on them. However, transfers from immediate relatives (husband/wife, parents, children), if they are gifts or inheritances, are not taxed.
According to the publication, in 2025, there will be no need to pay tax on non-cash gifts valued at up to 2 thousand hryvnias. Since the minimum wage in 2025 will be 8 thousand hryvnias, gifts up to 2 thousand hryvnias will not be subject to taxation.
Lawyer from 'Winner Partners' Anastasia Rudenko noted that in 2024, the threshold for non-taxable gifts was 1,775 hryvnias. Thus, gifts received last year will be subject to taxation if their value exceeds 1,775 hryvnias.
Tax rates on gifts
- 0% - gifts from close relatives of the first or second degree of kinship;
- 5% - gifts from individuals who are not close relatives;
- 18% - gifts from non-residents of Ukraine.
Citizens who received a gift with a zero tax rate are not obliged to include its value in their total taxable income for the year. Also, if the gift was received in 2024, the tax on it must be paid by August 1 of the current year.
