Ukraine agrees to a temporary ceasefire, US resumes security assistance: joint statement.


Ukraine has agreed to the US proposal for a ceasefire for 30 days, if Russia does the same. This is stated in a statement released by Ukraine and the US after a meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
This agreement also means that the US plans to resume security assistance to Ukraine and start sharing intelligence data.
During the discussion of humanitarian aspects, the exchange of prisoners, the release of civilians, and the return of displaced Ukrainian children were also discussed.
The parties agreed to create negotiating groups and start talks to achieve lasting peace. Ukraine also demands that European partners be involved in the peace process.
The meeting, held under the patronage of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, highlighted the courage of the Ukrainian people and emphasized the need for establishing lasting peace.
The presidents of both countries also agreed to conclude an agreement for the development of Ukraine's critical mineral resources to strengthen the economy and ensure the long-term prosperity and security of the state.
