In Poland, it was proposed to punish the denial of the 'Volhynian massacre' and the heroization of Bandera and the UPA.

The opposition party 'Law and Justice' in Poland submitted a legislative proposal to the Sejm, which suggests simplifying criminal prosecution for crimes against Poles, including the Volhynian tragedy. This was reported by the portal Niezalezna.pl.
According to this initiative, changes are wanted in the law on the Institute of National Remembrance - the Commission for the Prosecution of Crimes Against the Polish Nation, as well as in the Criminal Code. Deputies of 'Law and Justice' propose to clarify the list of crimes that fall under the jurisdiction of the Institute, including actions by members and collaborators of the OUN-B and UPA, as well as other Ukrainian formations that cooperated with Nazi Germany.
The legislative proposal contains provisions that directly link the Volhynian tragedy with specific organizations and their activities. The initiative aims to counter attempts to heroize the ideology of OUN-B and UPA, as well as to stop the spread of 'lies about the genocide crimes in Volhynia.'
The authors of the legislative proposal claim that already after World War II, the distortion of history began through the destruction of evidence and justification of crimes. They also accuse modern Ukraine of a policy that denies the fact and scale of the genocide committed by OUN-B and UPA. Examples include public speeches of Ukrainians in Poland and statements by Ukrainian officials, which, according to Polish politicians, caused outrage.
Deputies also emphasize that these events take place against the backdrop of significant support that Poland has provided to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale war. They noted that since February 2022, Poland has provided Ukraine with material, humanitarian, and military assistance worth tens of billions of zlotys.
Let us also remind whether the Volhynian tragedy gives Warsaw a reason to block Ukraine's accession to the EU.
