Switzerland has introduced new rules for the residence and employment of Ukrainians.

The Federal Council of Switzerland has approved important changes that simplify access for Ukrainians to employment in Switzerland due to Russian aggression.
According to the Blick magazine, Ukrainians who have found work in Switzerland no longer need to obtain special permits from local authorities, which previously incurred financial costs.
According to the new decision, individuals with 'S' protection status can change their place of residence for employment in another canton. This is greatly facilitated, as there were previously restrictions for Ukrainians regarding changing their place of residence.
'We want to eliminate bureaucratic barriers that hinder the employment of people seeking refuge in our country,' said the Federal Council of Switzerland.
There is also a requirement for unemployed individuals with 'S' protection status to register with government employment agencies and participate in professional integration programs. This will help Ukrainians find work more easily and adapt to the Swiss labor market.
Moreover, the Federal Council of Switzerland has initiated consultations to facilitate access to the labor market for third country citizens who have obtained education in Switzerland. The 'S' protection status granted to Ukrainian refugees since March 2022 will remain in effect at least until 2026 and provides access to housing, financial support, and medical assistance without the standard asylum application process.
According to official data, about 66 thousand Ukrainians currently have 'S' protection status in Switzerland.
It is worth noting that Ukrainian refugees in Europe are anticipating changes to their rights to basic assistance and temporary protection.
