How many expert examinations of the bodies of fallen soldiers does Ukraine conduct each month? The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported the details

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, reported that the identification of the bodies of fallen servicemen transferred by Russia has begun. Every month, more than 10,000 examinations help establish the identities of the deceased, but the process may take longer due to the complexities of analyzing the remains.

«We announced 13-14 months - these are approximate estimates when we work in three shifts to ensure that we can conduct the work as quickly as possible,» emphasized Klymenko.

According to the minister, the Russians often send remains of different people or parts of one serviceman's body at different times, complicating the identification process. This requires additional analyses and complicates the work of experts, especially when the body has been in the ground for a long Time. Klymenko stressed that Russia deliberately complicates the tasks for Ukraine and then criticizes it for a lack of identification capabilities.

Work with DNA Analysis

The Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with the International Committee on Missing Persons, is ready to collect DNA from the relatives of Russian soldiers abroad to accelerate the identification of the bodies transferred to Ukraine during repatriation. Some Russian soldiers attempted to present their bodies as those of Ukrainian citizens, but experts established the origins of the deceased from the Russian army.

Bodies that cannot be identified through DNA analysis are kept in healthcare facilities. More than a year will be needed to process the last batch of bodies transferred to Ukraine. Ukraine adheres only to humanitarian principles and does not return bodies until a deceased serviceman’s identity is fully established.

Ukrainian experts perform complex work on identifying the bodies of fallen servicemen transferred by Russia. Repatriation and identification require significant efforts, but Ukraine is guided throughout the process by the principles of humanity and transparency.
