Szijjártó is stirring up the myth of the destructive plan by von der Leyen and Zelensky.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó expressed outrage that Ukraine is trying to persuade the European Union to ban the purchase of Russian energy resources, which, in his opinion, could seriously harm the economy of Central Europe. He believes that such actions by the EU do not take into account the interests of individual member states, including Hungary.
'We are dealing with a plan that will destroy the region's economy and significantly increase utility prices for Hungarians,' the minister emphasized.
It is noted that there is no official 'von der Leyen – Zelensky' plan, although the possible strengthening of energy sanctions against Russia within the EU is being discussed. Hungary is one of the countries that imports energy resources from Russia, as it believes it cannot provide its population with electricity and heating without them.
In the context of discussions regarding energy issues and sanctions, it is important to consider the positions of different countries in the European Union and to try to unite states to protect national interests within a common European strategy.
