The Verkhovna Rada increased the number of the Security Service of Ukraine and its combat unit.

The Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada adopted a draft law on July 16 to increase the number of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in both peacetime and wartime. People's Deputy Iryna Herashchenko reported this on Telegram.
"311 deputies from all factions approved the draft law regarding the activities of the SBU and its effectiveness due to the war No. 13353," the deputy noted.
The draft law proposes to allow SBU servicemen to use weapons and combat equipment during defense, create the Center for Special Operations 'A', and increase the number of SBU by 10,000 personnel.
It is also worth noting that on the same day the Verkhovna Rada removed Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and the government, as well as increased expenditures for the security and defense sector in the State Budget for 2025.
The Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada supported the draft law on increasing the number of the SBU, granting it additional powers and means to bolster the country's security.
