The head of the UOC MP Onufriy reacted to the decree on the deprivation of citizenship.


The head of the UOC MP, Onufriy, confirmed that he only has a Ukrainian passport and has never applied to other countries for citizenship. This was reported by the spokesman for the UOC MP, metropolitan Klyment.
'Onufriy will defend his rights as a citizen of Ukraine and has every right to contest this decree. The decision to revoke citizenship is subject to certain legal doubts'
Based on materials from the Security Service of Ukraine, Orest Berezovsky, known as metropolitan Onufriy, lost his Ukrainian citizenship by decision of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. Investigations showed that Onufriy obtained Russian citizenship in 2002 and did not inform the Ukrainian authorities about it, continuing to use a Ukrainian passport.

It was also found that several clergymen of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (MP) have Russian passports, including Onufriy, Tulin Metropolitan Ionafan, and Ladiyzhyn Bishop Serhiy.
The information and educational department of the UOC MP published Onufriy's statement in which he renounced Russian citizenship. Later, he admitted that he has a Russian passport, but considers himself only a citizen of Ukraine.
