Double catastrophe: how Russia lost its army and economy in 2024 - Media.

Ukraine has embarrassed Putin in the war. Instead of conquering Ukraine, Russia itself has suffered and destroyed its economy.
Russia managed to only slightly expand its territory and failed to fully capture the Donetsk region in the east. The offensive that contributed to the buffer zone near Kharkiv allowed the Russians to gain only a few kilometers along the border. Rocket attacks failed to plunge Ukraine into cold and darkness, according to military expert Richard Kemp.
Putin was unable to regain control over some parts of the Kursk region and did not receive assistance from North Korea.
Russia's air defense proved ineffective, with Ukrainian drones even reaching Moscow.
The Russian fleet lost control over the Black Sea and was unable to stop Ukrainian grain exports. Many ships were sunk, and the rest had to retreat from Crimea and the Ukrainian coast, Kemp writes.
Putin risks making Russia dependent on China due to the economic situation and sanctions.
Despite Russia's failures, the war is not over yet, warns Kemp.
