Germany confiscated a tanker of the 'shadow fleet' of the Russian Federation with oil worth €40 million.

The German government has decided to take strict measures against the tanker used to circumvent sanctions on Russia. According to the report from 'Glavkom', customs has arrested the Panama-flagged tanker and confiscated it along with oil worth €40 million. After the transfer of the vessel, it will be renamed.
The tanker, which was heading from Ust-Luga to Egypt, was added to the list of the 'shadow fleet' of Russia in February this year. The government of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is considering the possibility of safely offloading the oil from the tanker and taking further action against it due to its potential negative impact on the environment and tourism.
It should be noted that European countries are discussing the detention of Russian oil tankers in the Baltic Sea
These negotiations have intensified following the arrest by Finnish authorities of the vessel Eagle S, which is suspected of damaging an underwater power line. According to reports, the 'shadow fleet' of Russia consists of up to 1000 obsolete vessels used for exporting oil and petroleum products.
