Blackout in Bali

On Friday, May 2, power was cut off in several regions of Bali. The cause of the blackout was damage to underwater cables connecting Bali to the island of Java. As a result, electricity was turned off in several areas.

Because of the power outage in Bali, traffic jams formed on the roads and long lines appeared at airport check-in counters. However, incoming and outgoing flights continued to operate.

Electricity began to return several hours after the outage, but there were still some areas without power.

It should also be noted that Bali is the main tourist center of Indonesia, which was visited by 6.3 million foreign tourists last year.

Massive blackout on the Iberian Peninsula

On April 28, there was also a blackout on the Iberian Peninsula, particularly in Spain and Portugal. The large-scale outage occurred around 12:30 PM and was an unprecedented experience for many people. Overall, it affected tens of millions of people and led to problems with transportation, communication, banking cards, and other daily needs.

More than 10 GW of power was lost due to this incident. Meanwhile, this blackout will cost Spain at least 1 billion euros.

The materials from the investigation of this case have been classified. They argued that this was to prevent discrediting or sabotage of the investigation.

Analysis

Blackouts, such as those that occurred in Bali and on the Iberian Peninsula, are serious problems that can lead to significant difficulties for the population and the economy. In this context, thorough investigations must be conducted to establish the causes of the outages and prevent similar situations in the future.
