Chinese tech giants buy up microchips in anticipation of US sanctions - media.

Chinese technology giants are actively purchasing high-bandwidth semiconductors from Samsung
Chinese technology companies, including Huawei and Baidu, have purchased a significant number of high-bandwidth semiconductors from Samsung, in anticipation of possible US sanctions on chip exports to China. According to Reuters, this activity indicates that China is trying to maintain its technological ambitions amid growing tensions with the US and the West. Furthermore, this fact highlights the impact of the confrontation on global semiconductor supply chains.
According to the agency, the US plans to establish new restrictions on semiconductor supplies to China in August. Washington intends to specify parameters for limiting the People's Republic of China's access to high-bandwidth chips. These chips are used for artificial intelligence work and are produced by only three companies: SK Hynix and Samsung from South Korea, as well as Micron Technology from the US.
According to Reuters, it is currently difficult to assess the exact quantity of HBM chips accumulated by China. However, it is known that these chips have been purchased by various companies, ranging from satellite manufacturers to tech firms.
