Finland detained Putin's shadow fleet tanker after Estlink 2 cable incident.

Finland has detained the tanker Eagle S, which reportedly damaged the underwater electricity cable Estlink 2 that connects Finland with Estonia. According to the Financial Times, this tanker may belong to Russia's shadow fleet.
The Finnish Border Guard detained the oil tanker Eagle S after the damage to the Estlink 2 cable in the Gulf of Finland. The ship is currently under police control in Finnish waters.
It is noted that this tanker, which was transporting oil from Russia to Egypt, is suspected of deliberately damaging the communication cable between Finland and Estonia. During the incident, one of the anchors was lost, which likely caused the damage.
'We have reason to suspect that this tanker, registered in the Cook Islands, damaged the Estlink cable with its anchor. We also suspect that other cables have been damaged,' said Ilkka Koskimäki, the director general of the Finnish police.
The incident occurred on Christmas Day and led to a loss of communication between Finland and Estonia. The underwater electricity cable Estlink 2, which provides energy supply to Finland and the Baltic countries, is 170 kilometers long and has a capacity of 650 megawatts.
According to the monitoring service Marinetraffic, the tanker Eagle S changed its course at the moment of crossing over the cable. It is believed that this ship belongs to Russia's shadow fleet, which is used to bypass sanctions.
Previously, the Chinese bulk carrier Yi Peng 3 was also suspected of damaging underwater cables that connect Finland, Germany, Sweden, and Lithuania.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Russian intelligence was ordered to damage the cables using an anchor.
In relation to these events, NATO is facing difficulties in responding but is avoiding direct accusations against Russia to prevent panic.
