European Commissioner announced the acceleration of Ukraine's accession process to the EU.

The European Union accelerates Ukraine's accession process
The European Union intends to move forward more quickly with Ukraine's accession process, specifically by opening two negotiation 'clusters' during the first half of 2025. This was announced by Maria Kos, the European Commissioner for Enlargement, at a press conference in Brussels.
From a practical standpoint, we have the opportunity to open two clusters for Ukraine during the first half of the year. The continuation of the process depends on the agreement of the EU member states, which must approve each subsequent step. Without the member states, this is impossible, - emphasized Maria Kos.
Kaja Kallas, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, noted that the EU must continue to develop and have new members. She also stressed the need to exert pressure on Russia to end the war.
Despite receiving legal permission to begin negotiations with Brussels, Kyiv has not yet opened the first negotiation cluster. The entire process includes six clusters, which are divided into 35 chapters. Hungary opposes Ukraine's membership.
