The Dutch Minister of Defence, Ruben Brekelmans, stated that foreign troop deployment on Ukrainian territory is being discussed in European capitals.
'We are forced to think about this now. But it is still in the consideration stage. Everything I say regarding this is premature. However, this discussion has already begun in some capitals and may be gaining momentum,' emphasized the head of the Dutch Ministry of Defence, as reported by ZN.UA referring to De Volkskrant.
According to him, it will take some Time before a more concrete position on this issue is established, and currently, there are no clear proposals.
'The risk in negotiations is that Russia currently has the advantage. Russia will make its demands costly. They can simply sit back with their arms crossed and wait. Thus, they will quickly place Ukraine in a position of a party that has to make decisions. No agreement can be reached without the involvement of Ukrainians; they must be present at the negotiations. They are ready for discussions, but on the condition that they have a strong military position. We also need to be aware of what will happen if a ceasefire or cessation of hostilities is reached. Ukraine will then need security guarantees, as we know that Putin may start testing this agreement as early as the second day,' he added.
