Demographic crisis: birth rate in Ukraine has reached a historical minimum.

Ukraine has set an anti-record in birth rate
After the outbreak of the full-scale war, Ukraine set an anti-record in birth rate - now this figure is 0.9. This was reported by the First Deputy Minister of Social Policy Daria Marchak during the conference 'Demographic Future of Ukraine: Strategy for Resilience and Recovery. Vision of Civil Society'.
According to Marchak, the international replacement rate is 2.2 children per woman under 50 years old, while the average in EU countries is 1.5. Before the full-scale war, Ukraine had a rate of 1.16, but now it is 0.9. This is the lowest figure in the country's history.
Marchak noted that along with low birth rates, large-scale external migration has led to rapid aging of the population, as mainly elderly people remain in the controlled territory. The average age of Ukrainians has increased from 41 to 45 in recent years.
One of the main tasks of the 'Demographic Development Strategy of Ukraine' is to create opportunities for people to remain economically and physically independent for as long as possible.
