Be more vigilant: Ukrainians have doubled their housing bills due to a dubious competition.

The housing fees for residents of Kyiv have been increased by 100% due to a non-transparent competition
Energy expert Oleg Popenko spoke about the rise in the cost of servicing apartment buildings in Kyiv. The competition for building management was held by the Kyiv Military Administration, but after public outcry from activists and residents of the capital, it was canceled. According to the expert, the cost of servicing buildings has doubled, leading to widespread discontent among Kyiv residents.
'In Kyiv, there are 10 municipal management companies servicing 8,500 residential apartment buildings. The Kyiv Military Administration decided to hold a competition for the manager according to the law. However, the documentation was prepared in such a way that no one could apply, and those who did were filtered out. As a result, the same 10 municipal management companies won,' said Popenko.
Activists were preparing for lawsuits against this decision. However, thanks to public pressure and letters to the relevant authorities, the competition will be canceled. The expert emphasized that the management company has no right to increase the cost of servicing the building, so the residents of Kyiv should be vigilant and not accept inflated bills.
According to Popenko's calculations, the increase in housing fees for Kyiv residents amounts to significant sums. This decision has led to the siphoning of funds, as management companies do not fulfill their obligations and do not have the necessary documents and equipment. Moreover, apartment buildings in Kyiv often lack technical documentation from the 90s and 2000s.
The expert advised Kyiv residents to be attentive and not to accept inflated payments for building maintenance services.
