Expert sharply criticizes the installation of solar panels in Kyiv
Energy expert Oleg Popenko has critically commented on the project for the installation of solar power plants in the 'Svyatoshynsky' residential complex in Kyiv, which costs 2.8 million hryvnias. He claims that this project is not economically viable.
The first part of the project has already been implemented, including the installation of 30 solar panels with a total capacity of 13 kW, a 12 kW inverter, and a 15 kW battery. The cost of the first stage amounted to 1.2 million hryvnias. The second part of the project, planned for 2025, includes the installation of another 15 solar panels with a capacity of 7 kW, a hybrid inverter of 12 kW, and a 30 kW battery.
Popenko claims that the annual generation of electricity from solar plants amounts to 20,000 kW or 86 thousand hryvnias in monetary terms. However, the payback period for the project is 32.5 years. He also notes that residents have raised only 15% of the total project cost, with the remainder funded by state programs and compensations.
